Shortly before the equinox, off to Iceland for EUCHIS 2023!

Halle an der Saale, 18th August 2023: While others are still pondering the end of summer, the chitosan industry is meeting in Iceland's northernmost city, Siglufjörður, and presenting the future around this fascinating substance. Five outstanding lectures will lead to the total of 48 international profound insights on chitin and chitosan that will crown your visit to this nature-rich area. Our Managing Director and renowned chitosan expert, Katja Richter, will present ways to ensure quality management of different raw material sources of chitosan.

The 14th International Conference of the European Chitin Society (EUCHIS 2023) and the 15th International Conference on Chitin and Chitosan (15th ICCC) will take place from 11-14 September 2023 in Siglufjörður, the northernmost town in Iceland, which is also known to many as a film set.

At its core, this year's EUCHIS is about the three significant themes:

Theme I: Chitin and chitosan to improve health and well-being

Theme II: Chitin and chitosan to support the circular economy economy and climate protection

Theme III: Chitin and chitosan in the natural environment

The second topic includes the presentation by Katja Richter entitled: ''Chitosan as pharmaceutical ingredient - quality aspects and trends''. She will compare the challenges of quality management and documentation for chitosan from different raw material sources for the global market and propose useful conclusions as a basis for discussion. The aim of the presentation is to stimulate a joint discussion on what steps, including regulatory ones, are needed to map the diversity of raw material sources of chitosans, which is essential for the production of safe medicines today and in the future.
