Description

The degree of deacetylation of a chitosan or chitosan derivative provides information about the proportion of free, deacetylated amines in the polymer. The more free, positively charged amines, the higher the charge density and the degree of deacetylation. This can be determined by titration (chitosan) or photometry (chitosan derivatives) (Ph. Eur., 2.2.20; Ph. Eur., 2.2.25).

Quantity of sample required: 2 g

Duration: 2-4 weeks
