The 9th EUCHIS is in full swing. After a friendly reception in one of the most beautiful cities in the world - Venice - participants already had the chance to listen to presentations in different fields of research. First posters are already replaced by the second session.

The younth in Germany is also researching about chitosan. Two scoolgirls land not only a first prize, but also a special prize on regional as well as on state level  of the competition "Jugend forscht". Title of their work: Biopolymer, Lipidabsorber, Ion exchanger, anti microbial agent: The allrounder Chitosan.

At the year's BIO in Atlanta Heppe Medical Chitosan is represented by the Technologie- und Gründerzentrum Halle (TGZ). The BIO International Convention is the largest global event for biotechnology and life science. You can visit it from May 18 to May 21 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, USA.

Chitosan is employed in many domains. Besides medical areas like e.g. as support in wound healing or in tissue engineering chitosan can also be applied in the fields of food technology and water management. Thanks to scientists of the faculty of Microsystems Technic at the Univesity of Stuttgart, chitosan might soon become part of biocompatible fuel cells.
