News - Chitin + Chitosan
American start-up for wound care solutions
PhD students in Maryland (University of Maryland and Robert H. Smith School of Business) found their own start-up to develop blood-clotting products. Already two products are in a development phase. A surgical spray and a sponge, both based on chitosan. The main focus of Remedium Technologies, a start-up, is the development of biomaterials which can successfully be used for blood-clotting. Members of the team are:
Matthew Dowling, Peter Thomas, Bani Cipriano, Oluwatosin Ogunsola, Akinola Dosunmu.
Currently their products are undergoing pre-clinical tests and within the next two years they plan on further development and FDA approval.
The used technology was developed in a cooperation of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (ChBE) with the Fischell Department of Bioengineering (BioE) at the University of Maryland.
